Xiaomiâs Redmi Teases its 64MP Smartphone with a Camera Sample
Xiaomiâs sub-brand Redmi is gearing up to launch the worldâs first smartphone with a 64MP camera sensor. The company has released a teaser image on its official Weibo account, showing off the impressive details captured by the high-resolution camera.
The teaser image zooms into a picture of a catâs eye, revealing the fine hairs and textures around it. The image also has a watermark that says â64MP AI Super Cameraâ and âRedmiâ. The company did not reveal any other details about the upcoming smartphone, such as its name, specifications, or launch date.
However, some media reports suggest that the first Redmi phone to sport such a camera might be the Redmi Note 8 or even the Redmi K30 Pro. Both these models are expected to launch later this year. The phone is likely to use Samsungâs recently launched 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor, which is designed to deliver bright and sharp images in any lighting condition.
Redmi is not the only brand that is working on a 64MP smartphone. Realme and Samsung are also said to be developing their own devices with the same sensor. Realmeâs CEO Madhav Sheth has already shared some camera samples from its 64MP phone back in June, showcasing the level of details and clarity from the sensor.
Redmi has been making waves in the smartphone market with its affordable and feature-packed devices. The brandâs Redmi K20 Pro and the Redmi Note 7 series have been well received in China as well as internationally. With a 64MP camera phone in the works, Redmi is aiming to take its photography game to the next level.
While Redmi is yet to announce the official launch date of its 64MP camera smartphone, it is expected to face some stiff competition from other brands that are also working on similar devices.
